Pre-Development Assessment
Any major built development project needs to take account of mineral safeguarding.
All mineral planning authorities map and have policies in place to prevent the undue sterilisation of mapped mineral deposits by development.
It is important that an adequate assessment of mineral potential is carried out before development takes place to identify any deposits that occur beneath the building platform.
If potentially economically viable mineral resources are present, the planning authority will expect to see a plan of pre-extraction before the development takes place.
Mundy Minerals can draw on decades of experience of mineral development to carry out these assessments and advise on ways to mitigate the impact of any required pre-extraction of these deposits.
Workflow
1. Desk based and/or intrusive site investigations
2. Mineral volume and quality assessment
3. Assessment of extraction viability
4. Mitigation strategies to offset disruption to the development project
5. Reporting to client
